Steampunk DIY-where to find gears, watch parts and other bits and bobs?
I am very interested in punk style steam and I arrange to do a bit of steam punk-influenced jewelry / accessories that have access to a welder and some experience in manufacturing jewelry wire. I was hoping to decorate a flash drive, or perhaps make a moderate version of the clock: My http://www.coated.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/geek-art-steampunk-watch- gadget.jpg only problem is that I can go on looking clock gears films and steam rooms that give it its distinct punk aesthetic. I know that some craft stores are often carriers of bits and bobs in your notebook and wrist to do things, but I fear that would end up paying an arm and a leg for anything I find there. Could lead to a hardware store small gear? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Look at the flea markets and secondhand shops garage sales are good too. Try to find clocks can disarm chain. Well, I recommend the "great alarm clock:" If you can find a lot of gears Bronze excellent! You can also search online sources, do a search of leftover material and electronics, a good site and American Science the surplus, if you do not know, check it out.
